He has undertaken a project to restore a C47 /DC3 Dakota that flew with the R.A.F. on the D.Day invasion and hopes to have it flying for the 75th anniversary at Montreal’s St.Hubert airport south of the Island of Montreal

It was so nice to see the dedicated young people involved in the project in the many episodes.

Trying to keep this thread a little on the topic of machine tools for this forum I noticed Buffalo Airways has a couple of older lathes in the shop where one of the DC-3 Engines came from .
One lathe appears to be to be a South Bend but I don’t instantly recognize the larger one that may have a riser under the head stock for some special job and look to be well cared for.

Someone from Hong Kong just finished an insanely giant mansion only one block from my house. And they had a DC-3 installed in the yard, supposedly for grandkids to play in. I remember when it was delivered; looked like it was in use before this guy bought it. The old orchard land goes for big $$ here now. Bummer to see the changes...

There are some photos of some radial engine parts being made , similar to some of the types shown in the Blakey Shop videos above

It looks like the DC3 mentioned by Maynah is still held by the Smithsonian but not currently on display but they had it fixed up nicely when it was.
