Early 1900's Lodge & Shipley lathe (was Please help)

They started in 1893
Your isn't as old as that - maybe 1905.

ON EDIT:
Here is a view of the early "closed tail" bed - later the "cross tie" would be gone. On these old beds serial is sometimes stamped on the "cross tie" - other wise it is stamped in between the two rear vee ways. (Incidentally, the 4th vee - on left of tail stock here - would give way to a FLAT way)

I'm going to revise my age guess to a few years earlier. To me, the back gear guards appear shop fabbed
1901 product line had no gear guards for back gearing

On Edit.. first I have ever seen lever assist for moving the slide atop the range gear box - wonder if that is an "improvement" by some long ago PO

My L&S was from 1900 and it had the one inside V and a flat ways so I think this lathe is late 1890's.
