I am working in a shop with a very old Hendey.
I have been through previous posts and still can't find a serial number or any other stampings in the casting.
Only one old "tag" on the front - #321
I have attached some photos.
This lathe has likely sat in the same toolroom since 1927 - and possibly in the same building since 1910 (or earlier).
Can anyone tell me any more about it ?
Thanks !
-Scott

No tie bar, but having the conical spindle bearings - not quite as old as 1900, but getting close

ON EDIT: Add thumbnail, which is scan from 1901 Manning, Maxwell & Moore catalog

Serial normally adjacent your right end corner but in between the two front ways.

Its old enough to be the CLOSED TAIL bed, so possibly the serial would be on the portion BETWEEN the front set and rear set of ways

Here is the twenty year later manual scan - after the tie bar introduction and other nice improvements. Thanks to Greg Menke for hosting this for me
