Heald Internal Grinder (teens - 20s) for sale

I guess I should find this Heald Internal Grinder a new home since I have a couple of lifetimes worth of other projects in front of it before I am likely to do anything with it. It is No. 2306 with a patent date of Oct 24, 1911. I am guessing it was all flat belt driven when new. It has a Simmons Micro-Speed 3/4 hp, 3 phase variable speed drive rotating the chuck/work piece. It had a tool post grinder rigged up on it when I got it (not included). The original grinder spindle is there and is shown in the pics. There will be some work required to get the spindle anchored and driven. The tag on the grinder spindle says Type 7, Style A, Number 4351. I believe it is all operational but I have not tried it myself. I borrowed the 4 jaw chuck for my lathe but I will re-unite it with the grinder.
I need to clean up as you can tell from the poor pictures. If you will give it a good home, then make me an offer. The amount of an acceptable offer will be inversely proportional to my confidence 1) that it will be used, 2) that you will keep it away the scrapper when you are done with it, and 3) in the potential for me to get a part ground on it in the future when I am grumbling about how I should have kept that Heald grinder I used to have.

Bought one (very similar if not identical) 20 years ago for $200....turned it on and played with it....2-3 times in 10
years. Bearings in the grinding head were shot. Scrapped it out. There was no interest.
Quite specialized.

EDIT.....oh wait.....kept the 10" 4 jaw chuck that was on it.

Had the planetary version - shared the same mechanical table reciprocation

Mine was the production version of this toolroom job and had no "knee"

John, Thanks for the pictures. I can see where the planetary version is nicer (necessary) for the bigger, irregular work pieces that aren't convenient to swing.

Granted there are pretty limited uses for the ID grinder. It's one of those things that you may not need often but it's handy when you do need it. Since there does not seem to be interest at the moment, I guess I'll push it back in the corner and try again later.

I have the same Heald No.7 ID grinder.
Not sure what to do with it yet.
It seems in good shape,
but needs new motor drives
because the old ones are cobbled
up angle iron brackets that look
like hell. It has a Parker (maybe
Majestic) spindle. The mechanical
feed reverse is kinda neat.

Doozer - any chance you want to put up some pics? I just have the grinding spindle setting there and I am curious about how it was originally attached to the carriage.

I pushed it back in the corner for a while... anybody have any interest in this? I hate to think of turning it into spoons but I am afraid there is not any call for these at all.
