I have looked at every horizontal mill picture on Vintage Machinery and nothing matches. Obviously early 1900s. Any ideas?

A.ll I see is the "column" casting..... and legs. Have any other parts? They often have details that can identify

Brainard Milling Machine Co. No.5.
Could also be the Small Hand Milling Machine by Brainard.
Can't tell without the other parts, but I think it is the No.5.
Most likely pre 1900. They still had these models in their 1896 catalog.

If someone had another Brainard to use for a pattern (and a lot of time), It probably could be brought back. Even without another Brainard it would present a fun project to DIY a mill. The saddle and table would be a challenge to reproduce, but as much as I'd hate to consider it, a small Asian mill could supply castings to modify. If it was closer I'd take it on (I'm swamped enough as it is, so it's time to start another project:crazy:).

I've seen similar projects come together before and I think the biggest mistake made is when guys try to engineer linear guide rails in or modern bearings and such. IMO you're better off trying to fill the holes with similar technology and designs to the machines time-period, rather than doing a Frankenstein hodge-podge of 1900's iron and home-brew CNC router parts.

I don't know about the mill but those legs would make a great end table!

Only if all your taste as to home furnishing aesthetics is halfway down your throat or a comparable depth up yer afterburner.

"Dickheaddealer" is a noun.

Anyone with half an ounce of gumption can fab a better-looking "end table" outta salvaged dumpster-dive, style it to suit any of a dozen themes or "motifs".

Since there was so much interest in the knee, here are some pics. I have no other parts.
