Hendey rear bearing

Hey something seems off to me here on my 16" 8speed Geared head. The rear spindle bearing housing has a flange / shoulder if I push it into place to register at the casting my view port is way past the oil ring. If pulled back centered on view port then it just seems odd. I feel like I'm missing something. Maybe it will be obvious once I try putting things together but i figured I'd ask first.

Anyone have some thoughts or even similar lathe they could reference.

Thank you so much
Dalton

Home made bronze bearing I'd guess

Here is the way it goes - nicely lined up with shoulder solidly seated

Its also a tight fit - no sliding fit in the head stock bore

I though homemade too but if it is they really made a nice replacement other than that shoulder. Nice round perfect looking oil grooves and all.

I guess I'll add a spacer there.
