The other day we had a film crew visit us at the Maine Forest & Logging Museum. They are working on a local interest piece. Needless to say with fresh snow blanketing the landscape and it being a glorious cold but bright day we couldn't resist letting the 1934 10 Ton Lombard log hauler out for a romp in the snow.

With the beast running fantastic, and conditions perfect, we hitched up two of the heavy Lombard patent logging sleds. I also took the opportunity to give my daughter another driving lesson.

The new Lombard road worked wonderful. We did mark a few trees that need to come down to ease a couple of tight spots but otherwise it made a great place to let the beast roam.

This particular Lombard was sold new to the City of Waterville, Maine and used for plowing etc. As such it was equipped from new with wheels rather than skis. Our plan, if we get the funding in place for the castings and hardware, is to eventually replicate a set of skis for it.
