LOL, I'd like a better explanation of how the first steam hammer was also the first shaper. They've conflated two of Nasmyth's machines.

I was amused by the mention of machine tools 'controlled by flywheels' 
(they meant hand wheels I think)

They sure do. Made for general consumption or not, stupid mistakes can spoil the best efforts. On most things I'm a member of "the masses" and I don't like being misled or talked down to.

One of the most frustrating aspects of these programs is that often they skip over explanations of mechanisms. No doubt the producer says to simplify it so it doesn't confuse the peasants. I often watch programs by this group on the public TV channel. All in all, they do a pretty good job. One problem, though, is that they will run a whole evening of these programs about different subjects and I waste it staring at the tube. They do show some cool equipment.
