Now days, who in the heck would build a planer that has a swap belt drive!!!!

Probably not in the US. But, if I were to set up production in a remote area, without being able to rely on fast and reliable supply of spare parts (and, I believe, a significant portion of the World would fit these criteria), I'd likely prefer a swap belt drive to an hydraulic one.
