I have been searching for an early drill press from around the mid 1800’s to incorporate into my lineshaft museum... This drill showed up not long ago on PM and I was happy to finally bring it home. It’s not as old as what I am looking for but I couldn’t pass it up. Thank you to my friend Jake in helping me find some info on this drill... Born in 1902 and although not as old as I would like, the drill press is unique enough to keep in the lineshaft museum. This drill has many cool features like a weight in the column to help with raising and lowering the table, foot pedal to engage and disengage the belt drive, a vise built right on the side of the table and a leather wheel friction drive adjustable for variable speed. The design is both unique and crude at the same time.... Just wanted to share this most insteresting press. Photos coming!
