J Stevens surface gage?

Just wondering if this unmarked tool is one. It has much nicer knurls on two out of the three screws than on the similar looking gages i could find pictures of

It looks like one.
Mine is marked on the knurled knob.
It looks like I see something on yours.

I have also seen these marked on the flat part of the square block, often diagonally. Many of the marks are very faint. Yours looks like a Stevens but the knurling on the knobs doesn’t look like theirs. Maybe a machinist/owner made fancier knobs for his?

Post a photo of the underside of the base, then folks can see if the casting match.

Great, I’ll have to compare it some of mine when I get back to the shop. One thing is for sure, those VEE notches were added by someone, didn’t come that way from Stevens.
