This lathe came up for sale recently with the makers name given as Georg Stenzel & Co, Berlin.

However this company is still around and it sounds like they were agents for other makers, including US machines.

So - just wondering if anyone recognises this machine? Quite a nice looking lathe!

Edit: 4-jaw chuck diameter is 720mm (28.3"). Spindle bore 51mm (2"). Centre height in gap is 475mm (18.7"). Faceplate diameter 630mm (24.8").

that tailstock looks like it may have some travel to it . nice . is that a atom in there logo above the tread chart if so is that not more of a late 40's 50's thing

This link is for a brief history of Stenzel. They started by selling used machinery, then new machinery including some well-known US machine tools (e.g. Cincinnati and Leblond) followed in later years by Japanese machine tools. The business fell apart in the 1990's and the surviving portion has returned to selling used machine tools. No mention of manufacturing machine tools themselves as far as I can see.

Over 100 years of company history in machine trade | Stenzel

I too looked at the curious logo - but couldn't come up with anything useful. But I reckon someone might recognise it.

The makers name might be cast into the bed...but these are the only photos in the advert.

I have added some dimensions to the first post.
