I am looking for information about a set of Johansson blocks that I have. I am curious if they have any historical significance due to the fact that they are pre-Ford and made in Sweden

I picked them up 5 years ago in an E-bay auction and it is a complete 81 piece set.

Thank you all for your time in this matter!

They certainly have historic value, but probably not to very many people. Is there a serial number? I will say the mahogany case looks nicer than the black Bakelite case that Ford used. The pictures show Henry Ford's own set, model 1A, serial number D1, presumably meaning the first set made in Dearborn (1923).

I have a mostly complete set of Ford Jo blocks that I bought just for the provenance. Your set should be handled with care, it does look in great shape and is likely rare, but as to worth, only a limited group would appreciate it.

Hello! Just checked what a "normal" set goes for, and it varies from less than 500SEK (>$100) to a couple of thousand SEK, depending upon when they where last certified. These are in a different league, however. As I don't have a slightest clue of the instrument collectors market, I can't even hazard a guess, but 4,maybe 5 figures in $US wouldn't surprise me! Maybe Rivett 608 can chime in here?
