My edited book “Metal Shapers” is finally available.

Over the period of 16 years there have been over 140 articles published in the shaper column of the NEMES Gazette (The newsletter of the New England Model Engineering Society). This book contains all those columns published and in some cases updated and corrected.


There are three versions available on Lulu.com

The printed versions are 542 pages long on 8.5” x 11’ paper.

ebook version at $4
Black and White version at $12
Color version at $35

Full disclosure. If I can sell just over 30 copies I make enough to pay for my two copies :-)

Just go to Lulu.com and search for “Metal Shapers” or “Kay Fisher” and you should find all three versions.

If you would be so kind to pass this information on to other interested metal workers I would greatly appreciate it.

I bought the color version. My now-sold 15" Juengst & Sons shaper is in one of Kay's columns, and this will be a great way to remember it. Thanks, Kay!

Yup, I'm a sucker for a shaper book, got the color one coming.................guess it'll be my Christmas present.

Yes. The ebook is queued up to Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble NOOK, Amazon Kindle, and Kobo. Lulu says that might take several weeks. So if you wait a couple of weeks and send me email I will let you know if this release has made any progress towards the other ebook providers. If not I will help find you a work around.

Purchased online version too. Then I read whole thing (ok, so I skipped the 3 pages of heavy math describing shaper motion - slow forward and fast back is good enough for me).

I enjoyed the book. I like the color photos and the ability to zoom in on high res pictures. Nice book. Could use a table of contents.

Per the website, it can be read on kindle by use of a file converter although I used a chromebook without difficulty.

Lulu.com will push out the various eBook versions to several other publishers over time.
In a few weeks it should be available on (1) Apple Bookstore, (2) Barns & Noble NOOK), (3) Amazon Kindle, and (4) Kobo and everything else.

In the mean time the Kindles and the Kindle apps can read .mobi format. That requires you to download the .epub file then convert it to .mobi with the free app Calibre. Then download the resulting .mobi file via your PC or Mac to your Kindle.

Lulu is suppose to notify me when the other vendors have accepted the book for distribution. You can ask me any time via email at [email protected]
