Default Minature shaper available in Toronto, Canada

Saw this advertisement on our our version of Craigslist, Kijiji. Not affiliated however thought some people might be interested in seeing it. Has little writeup as well on the history of the castings. Pictures for future reference.

A bit pricey but great for the collector. My Ammco 7" is more useful :-)

A Cowells lathe sold at auction locally for CA$450, that was a bargain.

Those little shapers can do a good job. In the past I was using the simple Adept No2 hand shaper for cutting keyways in small gears and with a simple jig locating the gear in the vise all it took was a couple of minutes to complete each keyway.

Very neat little machine. I wonder what the size scale is, for instance, how wide the jaw of the vise or how long the stroke of the shaper?

More info here: Cowell Hand-operated Shaper

My mistake though in confusing Cowells (the lathe and milling machine company) with E W Cowell (who are the makers of this hand shaper casting set).

Cute, but $1500----more like half that.
