Also quite the antique - one can tell by the shift levers and the clutch control up there. Could be the eight speed version, and predates D type spindle nose

A compound would be easier to come by than a taper attachment.

Given the short bed, relatively small spindle hole, and everything else noted, if bearings are in good shape and there is no excessive wear in the ways, the price seems a bit on the high side. these old machines tend to sell for scrap minus hauling costs.

PS I think it should be fairly easy to adapt a compound from a different lathe, if needed.
