Hi Everyone, and thanks for letting me join the group. I have just recently got my hands on a Willson Slant bed lathe thats in pretty damn good condition for its age of 60years. The wear on the ways is very very slight. It came with i think all of its original tools, chucks, steadies etc etc... but also surprising was that it came with its original paperwork and manual.
I tweaked up the adjustments on the Gibs and now there is practically no more movement at all on the slides and they operate smooth as silk and very free.
I will be over the next few months, stripping, degreasing, cleaning, polishing and repainting the lathe back to its glory for my home shop.
I will also be changing out the 3Phase 4pole motor in exchange for a 3Phase 3hp 2 pole motor and controlled by a single phase to 3phase VSD utilizing a variable speed dial nob so as i can increase the Head Stock RPM from a top speed of 958RPM to 2000rpm (smaller chuck diameters ONLY of cause).
Also to be fitted will be a DRO system.
pics to follow.
Look forward to reading your comments.

Cheers
Scotty
