New Member with Hendey lathe question

Have been lurking around this site for a couple of months and figuerd I would jump on board. I have recently opened a machine shop and purchased a 16 X 54 Hendey lathe from a shop in Jacksonville Fl. Also, I have followed many of hendeymans posts which have helped me immensely. I am trying to identify my lathe by it's serial number and any help would be appreciated. Serial number is 30043. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to forum. Hendeyman may find time to stop by and comment. About 1938 from that number.

Probably a 12 or 18 speed gear head, though they were still making cone heads then. Manual scan here, thanks to Greg Menke for hosting

Thanks for the Operators Manual. Very much appreciated!! My lathe runs like a watch and I enjoy operating it.

The order records for Hendey lathe #30043 were misfiled years ago and I haven't been able to locate them. I am can't even find the records for one of my lathes (30006), very frustrating. I can
tell you that your lathe was built during the last week of May 1939 (mine was the last lathe built in April 1939). When I locate the lost records I will post here, sorry for any inconvenience that this
may have caused.
