Had a pretty good haul from a local estate sale this weekend. Lots of Starrett stuff. In my professional life where Renishaw rules I haven’t seen some of these items.

Most of these I’ve been aware of but there are a few things I don’t know about

Any idea what these laminated plates would be for?

They look like magnetic transfer blocks for use with a magnetic chuck.
The stripes of ferrous metal "conduct" the magnetic field lines (if
you will accept a very imperfect analogy), so you can use these to
block up parts (say because it has a protrusion and won't lie
flat on the chuck) and still get magnetic clamping.

It's not clear how big those are, but the width/spacking of
the ferrous and non-ferrous stripes affects how well they
will work with fine-pitch or coarse-pitch mag chucks.
