Nebel is antique enough to have threaded spindle nose. It is a sliding bed extension gap - these are more or less RAHN LARMON designs

ON EDIT...

Its elder brother Rahn Larmon going to scrap long ago near Pensacola



The extra handwheel on end extends the bed

Looks like most of the parts are there, and some nice extras. I also see some broken handles and by the looks of it they treated it like scrap when it was moved, also sitting in the rain. If people didn't treat machines like this they might have a chance of getting a buck for it.

Reminiscent of some of the smaller lathes they removed from the old Naval Ordnance plant in South Charleston WV years ago.
