I heard a this radio interview about the Video Tripping The Rideau Canal the other day that some folks may find interesting .
Ottawa Morning with Robyn Bresnahan | Live Radio | CBC Listen
It is currently playing on the TV Ontario site and I watched it last night that may not be available to very many people.
There is no narration or music but are some text comments that pop up on screen from time to time to offer some context about what you are seeing .

I see they have the full nearly 4 hour Documentary now on youtube so you can skip ahead if you only want to watch parts of it.
it is kind of a virtual boat trip of the last section of the canal to the northern end in Ottawa .

Thanks Marty ,
I was thinking that the main TV Ontario link my not play outside Ontario or Canada and thought the Youtube version might have but I had a reply form someone else in the U.S.A. that they couldn’t see it either.
I think the long lasting steel used in the winch cranks that was mentioned in the radio clip was likely wrought Iron .
There have been other threads on this forum about the merits of wrought Iron since the canal predates the Bessemer Steel process by about 20 years .
I don’t know that they continue to use wrought iron when replacements are made but the blacksmith shop at the Jones Falls complex was used up until recent years to make replacement parts and also acted a working museum .
If I remember they offered blacksmithing courses in the winter months but I think they got phased out a while ago .
