Power Hacksaw yoke wear: How much is too much?

I picked up an old royersford excelsior M2B power hacksaw some weeks ago and just got around to attempting to adjust the brass shims to take up the wear in the slide mechanism. After disassembly i found some pretty significant wear. In the attached pics, i rolled up some white paper and put it in the bolt hole that holds the retaining plate for the sliding mechanism. As you can see, the wear in this area has opened up the side of the bolt hole. This thing didn't break the bank, so before i spend any money on blades and any more time on cleaning and setting it up, should i even bother? I don't want to throw good money after bad.

I would think about putting a brass strip (maybe 3/16 at least) in the worn area with a couple of countersunk flat head screws (preferably brass too) and bedding the brass strip in with epoxy to compensate for the taper.
No reason to go overboard on this type of machine. It doesn't have to break the bank.
