I stopped by last night and highly recommend attending if you ever have the chance. Aside from the engine room which has been thoroughly described elsewhere (http://www.practicalmachinist.com/v...ratt-institute-new-year-s-celebration-115369/), the whistles are fantastic.

It's great to stand just a few feet away while the larger whistles are blowing, it shakes your whole body! Earplugs are strongly recommended.

I'm a Pratt alumnus ( 76' ) who has never heard the whistles blow.

( Always went home over the Holidays, ... and Graduated early, ... at mid-term, ... thereby missing the traditional Whistle Blow, at commencement. )

Got my first Engineering Degree at Pratt, and thoroughly enjoyed the University experience, ... but LOATHED having to live in New York, ... and have studiously avoided the City, for nearly 40 years now.

The best memory, about attending the Manhattan Campus, ... was picking up fresh hot Bagels every morning, on the way to class. :drool5:
