In Canada there equivalent was The Atomic Energy Control Board (AECB). It was established in 1946 - a year after the completion of the first Canadian nuclear rector (ZEEP, it was the first nuclear reactor outside the US). The AECB was replaced in 2000 by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
