image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgI just acquired a vintage Putnam #2 horizontal milling machine with a boat load of cutters and was wondering if anyone had any info on it? Pictures to follow as soon as I figure out how to post. This mill has the extremely heavy knee counter weight, nice large table and vice, all the cranks, divider? Huge, green..... Saw a picture of it in the American Machinist magazine of Feb 25 1892 on page 3 and 4 but that's all the info I have.

I'll look in Manning, Maxwell & Moore (1901) today and see what is there

Rose's Modern Machine Shop Practice (my copy at least) had nothing on Putnam Horizontals

Maybe , maybe not - wrong side doors but quite similar Dividing Head

This scanned from 1901 Manning, Maxwell & Moore - a large hard bound catalog

This scanned mill has the common for the time over arm with integral arbor support. The separate piece arbor support came later
