    Default Standard Tool Company Athol Mass. Help to ID a tool

    Any help with id'ing this would really be appreciated. Beam Caliper maybe? Rule is 12 inches long.

    That's a trammel. Should have sharp pointed pins sticking out of the jaws. Used among other things to lay out circles and curves in wood. A large beam compass.

    this is from an 1891 Standard Tool Co. catalog showing three sizes of the caliper gauge. The 12 and 9 inches are pretty uncommon. I've never seen a 6 inch one.

    Starrett has a similar one (I believe that is No. 99).

    I will dig them out when I have a few minutes to spare.
