I found a old Starrett 1905 REV counter- it was stuck so I took it apart as far as immediately possible and flushed it out. (removed rotating dial, and shaft). It turns freely now, except it hangs up solid once in a while-at random places, not repeatable. I think there is dirt or a chip getting caught up in the gears.
There is an outer rotating counter dial, and a fixed inner dial that appears to be pressed into the body of the tool.
Is this inner dial in fact pressed in, or is it threaded? It needs to be removed to completely clean the gear housing.
Thanks, stoneaxe.
