Steady Rest ID

Hi all,

I brought home a new to me lathe today and included with the spare tooling was a steady rest that is for another lathe. This came from an auction, so I wasn't able to talk to the prior owner. I looked it over and haven't found any sort of marks/numbers/etc. It appears to be 7.5" from the bench to the center as pictured here, so I'm guessing for a 15" lathe...and it was taller than the steady for the 14" lathe I bought.

The V for the ways looks like 90* and the finger adjustment seems sort of unusual/unique.

I'm going to clean it up a bit more to see if I can find any numbers (looks like it has two coats of paint in spots). I'd just love to ID it since it's possible there's someone out there looking for this exact steady. I spent 18 months looking for the correct steady for my other lathe, so I know it can be frustrating!

I had a feeling I'd seen that before - I had, and think it's a round head Colchester Triumph like this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/3338161528...XCY3oKNs7qlb9kOra7GkkD-wEGGrUlfcaAi18EALw_wcB

What say you? :)

I'd say you nailed it! After seeing your post I did a few searches and found a period owner's manual that showed a picture of a steady that looks like this one but a screw rather than bracket to lock it down...figure stuff like that changes over time. Then I found one for a 13" lathe in the sold items on eBay it it seems identical. I think that's good enough and hopefully it will help someone outfit their lathe soon!

This is the manual I found:
