    Default sticking morse taper #3

certain inserts into the morse 3 taper of my (leblond regal trainer 13in, 1943) tailstock will come out easily when i retract the tailstock spindle all the way back. They are somehow pushed forward, toward head.

But others, which appear to me about identical in size and shape, get stuck. Full retracting the tailstock spindle does not release them and i have to pry or hammer them out.
2 pictures show two that work Ok and two that stick,
    any suggestions

Do the ones that stick have a threaded hole in the small end? If so screw a socket head cap screw or short piece of threaded rod in to it to increase the effective length so the ejector will work.

They are short (note lack of tang) - simple as that. You either need as suggested in post #2 - or you need to remember to throw in an extra piece to make up for the shortness

well, that was easy! I did screw in an extension to one of the centers, and it then ejected fine, the other has no drilled thread but I can easily drill a hole and thread it for an extender.

    thank you both
