Summit le - 1000 manual lathe 2-1/2" spindle bore ???

Hi all,

I don't know if this is old enough to even be called antique because I can't find any info on it (which is my point on posting here in the first place -- but if this is a bad question or post and needs to be moved, no heartburn on my part)

I'm looking for a mid-size biggish-bore lathe and came across one on craiglist described as

SUMMIT LE - 1000 MANUAL LATHE 2-1/2" SPINDLE BORE

with very little info (and so far no response) which appears to be a fairly compact maybe 16x40 from the picture)

Does anyone know anything about a Summit LE 1000 lathe?

It is size wise, JUST what I"m looking for, but since I can't find any info on it, I'm hesitant to buy anyway.

I'm not experienced enough (just making small spacers on little 9" lathes) to fly fully solo.


ANY info appreciated.

I'd done a search (apparently not well) but hadn't come across that thread. Promising start

Still hope someone has run across something on the 1000.
I contacted the current Summit, and they have no parts for one, so that is much less promising.
