Hope this is related enough not to be a hijack....
The Japanese set I mentioned. Slightly larger as it "only" goes down to 0.4mm, or about 0.016", with a pitch of 0.1mm, or 4 thou (250 tpi).
It came with a toolbox full of clock and watch parts, tools, and materials, along with a Boley watchmaker's lathe and about 35 collets. No crosslide though, just a graver rest, although there is a tiny toolpost and a boring bar in holder for sub 1 mm holes.
The wood handled piece is the die holder, although it is not well made, and wobbles if spun in the fingers. The taps have a driving square, but would be used in a pin vise, I assume.
My impression is that these are not that well made, but likely would (and did) serve. At least one of the taps has the tip broken off, which presumably means it was used.
