Hand crank manual drill press or similar tool. Twin Tool Manufacturing Company. Is it a drill press? Will it auto feed or would I crank and feed? It has a ?1/2”? straight bore with set screw. What’s your “Best” way to convert to a Jacobs chuck?

My search finds post drills on PM but this is different.

Thanks in advance for helpful advice.

And how do I post pics?

To post pic, click "Go Advanced" below the typing box.

To put a Jacobs chuck on your drill, you could make an arbor with 1/2" straight shank or turn down a Morse taper one. My favorite way is to take the spindle out, cut off the 1/2" socket and turn down and thread the end to something like 5/8-16 for a threaded-back chuck. Then you know it will run true.

So it turns out what I bought is called a "Cole drill." It came with the v-shaped work support but not the large vise.

A 1/2" bolt with the head cut off, into a spare chuck. MagneticAnomaly's first suggestion got me there... although I'm sure this doesn't run terribly true, it's drilling well enough for my needs.

Thanks!

I'm using it where a well-equipped fabricator might use a magdrill. It's kind of fun : - )
