I picked this beauty up yesterday. I'm excited to mount it in my shop. Would love to know the history and manufacture of this Vise. Any help is much appreciated.20180227_202325_1519860740224.jpg20180227_202334_1519860740049.jpg20180227_202347_1519860739622.jpg20180227_202347_1519860739622.jpg[/ATTACH]20180227_202306_1519860740139.jpg

Trust me I'm trying to post a photo however the instructions in the sticky do not seem to be clear. I cannot locate a settings button anywhere.

Photos take up valuable space so if they keep screwing with the upload process eventually you will give up. I think they also get a kickback from Microsoft on each event they do that causes mass searches and requests for "fixes". Probably the easiest solution is to post a link to Facebook, then the website can earn money from redirects. Personally, if Ctrl C, Ctrl V doesn't copy and paste the photo into the message I just don't reply or post a message. If the Webmaster would hire someone who knew how to do it nicely instead of hiring their stupid useless relatives, we wouldn't have issues in lots of places.

Does yours look like this one? I've been cleaning this one up and it's also a nice vise but without a name anywhere. It is metric so that narrows it down just a little.

:D

In my experience the vice guys usually identify themselves by shouting "Vice Squad!"

ok not my *direct* experience ..

You are all quite witty, now lets see how well the identification goes.

I added photos to the original post . It may just be a cheap import but I like putting old things back in service.20180227_202306_1519860740139.jpg20180227_202325_1519860740224.jpg20180227_202334_1519860740049.jpg20180227_202347_1519860739622.jpg

Enough OP-bashing. I had one of those once. I bought it in 1986 at a box store for $39.95. For years I had it bolted to an old wooden workbench. I did every dang thing I could to that sucker and never hurt it aside from chipping some paint. I don't remember its swivel lock nuts working real well though.

There is no meaningful answer as to manufacturer. It is Asian, probably from Taiwan somewhere. Nowadays HF sells a miserable attempt at a scaled-down version of your vise.

I can say that your vise probably had a fair amount of body putty under its original glossy paint job.

Enough OP-bashing.

"Bashing" ?

I simply pointed out that the owner of the site "Milacron" has
Posted with a sticky, that these kinds of things are not to be posted.

So by my suggestion, I am nicely trying to not have the OP get his thread
locked and then all upset.

You on the other hand......

I bought 3 of those about 1990 at Sam's, can't seem to remember what happened to the 3rd one, might be squirreled away somewhere in shop. I worked the hell out of them, all in all they were not too bad. Unit #2 broke off at the base about 5 years ago, damn near crushed my foot. Friend stopped by a last summer with one in pieces, I gave him the broken one as it had all the parts he needed to put one together.

Got a sweet deal on 2 Wilton bullet vises this last year, they will grace the workbenches in the new shop. Now I need to figure out what to do with the 20+ old vintage vises shoved under the workbench.
