Hi everyone,

I recently bought a lot of old tools on an auction website. There was also a small vise included, but I don't know which brand it is and if it is any good. There is a logo on the side, but I don't recognize it. I have uploaded a few pictures, can anyone help me identify this vise?

It is an old European design. I think Leinen in Germany claimed to have originated it, probably in the 19th century. G. Boley in Germany also made them. I have one made in USA with a C&E Marshall tag. I have seen Polish versions by FPU/Bison-Bial, and I have a large Chinese version that is cleverly marked in the casting, "brained and designed in GERMANY."

I can't quite see "FPU" in the logo, and I do have FPU lathe chucks with a totally different logo, so I can't say where the OP vise was made.

Bison still makes them in larger sizes: 124 - BISON-BIAL S.A.

Here is a bit of history saying Leinen designed the vise and started a vise factory to make them and that G. Boley also made them. http://www.lathes.co.uk/leinen/

It seems you can still buy the Leinen vise in the larger sizes: Bench vice LEINEN-JUNIOR
