I'm in the process of restoring my Diamond Machine Co. Universal #2 grinder. I was cleaning the table traverse rack when I came across the stamping shown in the photo.
IIRC, The 1868 Catalog included in "The Brown & Sharpe Collection" includes advertising for "machine racks." Possibly the later catalogs.
Brown & Sharpe did do a lot of "contract work" for other producers - and Willcox & Gibbs (sewing machines) were products which were almost entirely produced by Brown & Sharpe for others. The Brown & Sharpe relationship with Victor Sewing Machine has been noted.
