Walenar Tag?

Can anyone help me with the reason this tag appears on my vintage Logan Lathe, Mod#955 :confused:

You're kidding, right? Since the person responsible for the tag is probably deceased, and thus we can't ask him or her the reason, we'll probably never know why that tag appears on your vintage Logan lathe, especially that particulary model. Our only hope is if they left a written statement in their will.

But if you were Messrs. Walenar, wouldn't you think it a good idea to build some advertising into every machine you sold? These tags are kind of like car dealer license plate frames.

Like Rklopp was sort of saying, it's just what it says it is. Most machine dealers used to stick these on every tool they sold. Of course they didb't all say Walenar.

Those old dealer tags, are sharp, I think, especially the thick brass ones... In the 60's & 70's, they all went to using decals or stickers...

Name recognition, advertising, and repeat business are some of the main reasons I suspect. "I see you got this machine at Walenars' place, think I'll go get one too."
