Hello,

Im a student in a Machinist program at my local junior college. My instructor has given my class a research problem. He asked us what is the hole that is on the rear of the ram on a Bridgeport Mill used for. I have searched the internet without much luck. Any help would be apreciated.

Some of the M heads were special, high speed
units - that may be one reason one could find
and M and a J on the same ram. The high speed ones had unusual flat belts.

Thanks for all the tips. The pics Adammil1 had were especially helpful. My Instructor gave me A+ for my effort. I was the only one in my class of 12 that had the answer. I will share the web address of this forum with my other classmates so they can get good information.

Thanks Again.
