I have the chance to buy a Hardinge SG-42 lathe with Fanuc 18T control. It is not under power so I don't know what works or doesn't and that will certainly effect my offering price. But, assuming it is working, how good and reliable were the SG-42 and Fanuc control considered?
Thanks,
Jim

I think the Fanuc 18T control came out about 1994. Dunno about the Hardinge, but Fanuc controls are generally considered the most reliable of them all.

The Fanuc model OT control is the most common cnc turning center control on earth....I suspect there are good reasons for such ubiquity other than salesmanship...
