This may well have been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't trawl it up ... When I have finished a cut an move the forward/reverse lever to the neutral position (off) the lathe stops fine, but after half a minute or so, the lathe starts to creep into reverse, and the spindle will turn slowly. If I prop up the lever with my knee, I can get it to stop, but this is obviously a bit dangerous; too much a a knee up and I'm turning forwards again. Has anyone else got this problem? Is it a clutch adjustment? Any help ewould be appreciated.

Nick: I would first check that the headstock has the correct oil: ISO 46 and also check the oil level. Your oil level may be low or the viscosity too high. The clutch adjustment procedure is indicated by a plate on the rear headstock access plate. Usually clutch wear will cause slippage under load, so clutch drag may be caused by their adjustment being too tight.
