Perhaps some will recall the details this Show in Cobo Hall in the City of Detroit - I cannot tell you what year, but I would guess around 1979 0r 1980. We were anxious to display some of our advanced engineering, prior to having introduced the twin spindle CNC machines with their great part handling capabilities.

So, we decided to display a 1-SC machine, to which we had integrated an oval parts carousel and an off the shelf robot, which took parts off the carousel and placed them into the 1-SC chuck, then removed the finished parts and put them, I believe, onto an accumulating table.

It made for an interesting but not really groundbreaking demo. (Probably better for the robot manufacturer than for us.) But it served to show that we had our hand in the "lights out" manufacturing that was the big buzz at that time. And it bought us time until we could properly show the twin spindle chuckers that would be built in the Nashville operation.
