Why is it that job sites like yahoo and monster only show the larger metropolitan cities and not the smaller areas like indeed.com and simplyhired? does anyone know some good sites to look for machinist jobs in less populated areas???

Best bet usually seems to be the state level labor department websites. Quick search yielded this for Ohio:

https://scoti.ohio.gov/scoti_lexs/

I know monster or careerbuilder will show 2 or 3 jobs in the same area that the state job search will show 20 or 30 for.

Good stuff.

The commercial job sites are exactly that. They post whatever jobs the employers wish to advertise, and pay for the privilege.

State sites are free. Of course, then you're dealing with companies that are too cheap to pay for their job ads.

So how well will they treat their employees? Is that perhaps why they have job openings?
