What is faulty about the Y axis dropping overnite to the end of travel on a Haas HS1? It has an air cylinder counter balance and not nitrogen filled. After E-stop it rises about 6-12 inches then drops completely to the end of nut over night. Sometimes we have had to manually turn the ball-screw by hand to get it passed the "over margin' alarm on power-up-restart. Can we damage the ball-nut or lose position if not fixed? We had a Haas tech up today but he didn't pin down the culprit(s). Any suggestions is greatly appreciated!!

I don't have any experience with the HS1, but on most newer vmc's they use a brake on the servo to hold the head up. Is there a brake on the y axis servo thats not working correctly? Just a thought.
