No Keypad Found

Have any of you HAAS users have your machine just stop and say "No keypad found" ? The keypad now will not work... nothing, I have to power down and restart. It may be OK for the rest of the day or even 3-4 days. One day it did it 4x. A couple of times the screen went black and then powered back up, did this 3-4 x then said no key pad found. I don't want to get HFO involved yet due to not wanting to pay them to show up and have it not do it when they get here. Any help or sugestions would be great!

The very first things to check is if you are getting power to the keyboard and monitor. Many problems like this can be traced to a power supply. IIRC, many Haas controls use a standard PC power supply for the keyboard. They are well known for issues. The monitor is powered by 120VAC. Check all termination points (plugs) as well as the cable itself.

On a guess, there could be a power supply issue to the audio/video card which is in the 3 stack of cards at the top left of the cabinet. Do NOT short out pins when testing for power or you could do more damage.

It doesn't cost a thing to call your HFO and speak with service about your problem. They are very good at helping diagnose problems over the phone, and in some cases can even talk you through a quick non complicated fix.

Who knows, they might just tell you exactly what the problem is, transfer you to parts, and the next day you have the part on your dock, fix it yourself, and your worries are over.......hopefully!
