Should have bought a Makino with the whisker. It can check for broken tools with no effect on cycle time.

I'll take the Okuma when you trade up...

Can it set the length of the tools too? Diameter?

Ed, consider writing a User-Task Sub to check for broken tools. Then you could drop it in wherever needed and good to go. Tighten up the rapid moves a little and there'd be no more than a few seconds downtime... I like it.

Ewsley, you could do a wisker style if you wanted on the Okuma. I've done it on a Genos M560 before. Then you get the best of both worlds.

I did it with a BK Micro unit, and an IO module with an ethernet connection to the control communicating to a THINC application.
