Having recently acquired a Monarch d1-3 5c step chuck closer for 5" Step 5c collets, I was wondering if any of you have a line on the step collets. The Hardinge ones are too big in diameter.
Is it best to turn down a Haringe step cuck and grind the perimeter or is it best to try to acquire the Monarch ones? Monarch wants a fortune for a new one. I'd appreciate the wise advice that abounds on this bulletin board.Thanx.
