I have just the base of an Interact. Can a D.C. voltage source be used to drive it? If so what Voltage and Current?

Y not z axis...

Many thanks. I am thinking of playing with a simple DC variable speed drive, so thanks for the info.

Not to be rude, but why?

Actual motor control stuff is pretty cheap.

DC brush servo stuff is simple as hell.

DC variable voltage output, 100 volts or so, big unregulated supply simple to make. Control is a +-10v tach[in the SEM motor], control puts out a +- 10v signal to the servo amp, they are wired back to back so the servo amp always tries to make zero volts.

Plugging DC into the SEM motor will make it run, sure, till you hit the stop and destroy the ball screw
