I've got a 1hp J head Bridgeport with a pancake motor. I'm hearing a slight knocking sound from the motor. I removed the motor, took the pulley and fan off, which confirmed that the knocking is internal to the motor, and is coming from the top (fan side) of the motor. I'm figuring its probably a bearing.
I haven't found any info online about taking apart and repairing these motors. I just recall seeing an old thread (maybe on PM here) that the pancake motors were kind of weird and they recommended the motor just gets dropped off at a motor repair shop. Its a "US Motors" brand.
Does anyone have any experience with repairing or messing with one of these motors?
