Bridgeport labeled DRO

Never seen one of these before. Anyone have any info?

This mill is ugly as hell but they ways are pristine. It has a 3/8 ass motor refit and the spindle bearings are locked up. Nice Boehm powerfeed though.

The DRO is not actually a DRO in the traditional sense. It is more like a very precise optical vernier caliper.

These use an etched and silvered glass scale. The readers contain an internal lamp to illuminate the scales. There is also an optical magnifying system that projects the scale image onto a display glass that it is also etched with marks and is connected to a vernier type device to display a precision of .0001 in.

Being that these are purely mechanical devices, they do not do anything automatically such as bolt circle calculations. Pretty good at the time but what is available today is much more user friendly.

Before you get to excited, considering the poor condition of the mill, the scales have a good chance of being either broken or the silvering damaged.

I'm just hoping to get rid of it, it came as a package with another lathe.

Maybe? If they're for you I'd be open to some horse trading.
