Looking for info on the smaller
Bridgeport Sine plate. 5" x 7"
I know that part, was wondering
about the size of the Tee slots,
weight and rigidity to do light
to medium duty milling.
Thanks
bob

I have one here that we used to use a lot. Not much anymore. It has one T-Slot across the middle that's will hold 3/8 T-Nuts. We mounted a 13 X 9 tooling plate on it with 3/8 tapped holes every inch (about 80 holes). The sine plate itself is 7" across and 6" deep and about 2.5" thick when closed. So that's about 29 pounds if I calculated it correctly. You can do medium to heavy machining if you put braces on each of the sides. The braces would consist of 1/4" steel ground stock with a clearance slot for 1/4-20 screws.

Sine Plate

Moldcore,
Thanks for the info on the sine plate
From what you described it is exactly
what I am looking for. I like that 29
pound weight. Are you inclined to part
with it? If so PM me with an offer I
can't refuse.

It's not mine personally so I can't sell it and I'd like to keep it around just in case. The individual that owns it has retired because of illness but said I can use it whenever I want to.

Moldcore,
I do understand, But now I'm sure it is the
right one based on your info. There are probably
some collecting dust that need a good home so
perhaps another PM member has one for sale.
Thank You

Here’s one on the bay, no affiliation with the seller;

Bridgeport Milling Machine Small Sine Plate | eBay

I have the larger plate, Suburban still makes the larger size!

Bridgeport made two styles of the larger size plate, one was single and the other was a compound sine plate......I think the original maker may have been Tri-Sine?

The one we have here does not have the 90 deg back plate like the one shown on eBay, it's just a flat top plate. The price for the one on eBay seems high for what it is but I haven't shopped for these in decades. Mine has a tag that says "Made for Bridgeport Machines by Custom Tool and Machine".

I checked the e-bay listing and thought
the price too high, especially not knowing
anything about how well it's been taken
care of. Pics looked ok-ish but for that
money I'd like to have input from the guy
that has had to indicate it in. I bought a
new "precision angle table" from e-bay that
looked nice but is all over the place within
.015 over 10". Need a lot of shim stock and
too much fooling around to get close. I like
the back plate idea. I'll keep looking.
Thanks men for the replies.

The Hunt is off. I've located and purchased
a nice sine plate to meet my needs. Twas not
the 5x7 BP one but a very nice 6x12, longer
than wide, which is what I wanted and weighs
39 lbs.
