Cleaning up a "new" (new to me) BP Mill

Just got it home and started cleaning it up. At the price I paid I couldn't turn it down :D

Overall, it's a pretty nice little mill and in fairly good condition given the age. From what I understand it was in a General Motors plant. It appears to have had little use over the years. I suspect being a smaller machine it was likely not used heavily (going on overall condition).

Nothing more here than the urge to share!

It came with some tooling and a DRO. The DRO is not in great shape and I did not see it run but the seller assured me it does (for the price, I didn't care).

Thanks all!

In the past two days I've been all over it and aside from being packed with grease instead of being oiled (that will be a lot of work to clean out) it looks really great.

I suspect it was used in a tool room given the very small amount of wear on a 1947 machine! I can still see the original scraping in most locations.

It trammed in at less than 5 thenths in X and Y over 10 inches (longest indicator bar I had). Once the VFD is in on Monday I'll be able to see what it can really do.

Given the visual, I'm confident it will be able to handle anything I need it to do.
